for one cup chai:

1 tablespoon black tea

5-7 cardamom pods, cracked

3-4 whole cloves

5-7 peppercorns

1/2 cinnamon stick

1/2 star anise (optional)

fresh ginger to taste

saffron if you're rich idk

 

note: these quantities are for gently infusing whole spices, not ground ones - if grinding your spice mix, reduce the cardamom, peppercorns, and star anise by half. and good luck straining that shit out.

brew in 1 part evaporated milk (NOT OPTIONAL), and 1 part water. Serve in a teacup and drink with one pinky out for the true Indian experience (i.e. colonization).
